MULTI-SECTORAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PROJECT
Opening of ITIs under Multi-Sectoral Development Program (MSDP)
The program has been initiated by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India,
with the aim of improving the socio-economic conditions of minorities and providing basic
amenities to enhance the quality of life in identified minority concentration areas during
the 12th Five Year Plan period.
The objective is to provide better infrastructure for education, skill development, health,
sanitation, pucca housing, roads, and drinking water, alongside schemes for creating
income-generating opportunities in Minority Concentration Districts (MCDs) where the
minority population is 20% or more of the total population.
At present, eight Government ITIs are proposed to be established in Sirsa, Fatehabad, and
Yamunanagar districts under this project, with expenditure shared between the Centre and
State Governments in a 60:40 ratio. Funding will be provided for the construction of
buildings and procurement of machinery, while the recurring cost for functioning will be
borne by the State Government.
