Objective

Key Features
Eligibility
- Passed ITI, diploma, degree, or certain vocational courses (depending on trade).
- Age generally 14 years and above.
Coverage
- All sectors: manufacturing, services, and trade.
- Covers over 250 designated trades notified by the government.
Type of Apprenticeship
- Trade Apprentices (ITI pass-outs).
- Graduate, Technician, and Technician (Vocational) Apprentices.
- Optional trade apprentices (as per industry demand).
Duration of Training
- Ranges from 6 months to 3 years, depending on the trade.
Stipend
- Mandatory stipend paid by employer.
- Minimum rates notified by the government (revised periodically).
- Example: Currently starts from ₹9,000 per month for graduate apprentices, lower for trade apprentices.
Certification
- Apprentices are assessed and certified by NCVT or respective authorities.
- Certificate helps in future employment and higher studies.
Training Content
- Practical on-the-job training at industry premises.
- Supplementary theoretical instruction (usually one day per week or as prescribed).
Employer Obligations
- Provide proper training facilities and assign qualified trainers.
- Maintain apprenticeship records and comply with Apprentices Act, 1961.
Government Support
